Mother of ex-girlfriend shot after apparent breakup in Fort Lauderdale

Police: Ex-boyfriend went home, got 2 sisters, gun, returned to address

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Authorities are investigating after a woman was shot after an apparent breakup of a relationship, police said.

The shooting happened after 10 p.m. Friday at 2344 NW 16th St. in Fort Lauderdale.

A man and a woman had broken off their relationship. Police said the now ex-girlfriend punched her ex-boyfriend in the face.

He got angry, apparently went home, got his two sisters and a gun and then returned to the address, police said.

Police don't know who did the shooting but said the ex-girlfriend's mother was shot.

Her injuries are not life-threatening.
