Bloomin' Brands closes 'underperforming' restaurants including Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba's Italian Grill locations

Dozens of Outback Steakhouse, Bonefish Grill, Carrabba’s Italian Grill and Fleming’s restaurants are closing their doors across the country, after their parent company, Bloomin’ Brands said they are “underperforming.”

The company revealed the closure of 41 locations in an earning call on Friday.

According to Bloomin’ Brands CEO David Deno, the majority of the stores were older with leases from the 90s and early 2000s.

Every Outback Steakhouse restaurant in Hawaii has closed its doors as well as Bonefish Grill locations in New Jersey and Virginia. New York shuttered three Carrabba’s Italian Grill locations, according to a report.

The Tampa based company reported fourth-quarter earnings of $43.3 million.
