MIAMI, Fla. – Norwegian Airlines passengers have been stranded for days at a South Florida airport due to transponder problems.
The devices are used to communicate between planes and airline officials say there have been issues with some of the technology used on aircrafts serving South Florida.
As of 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, dozens of passengers crowded the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport ticket counter trying to sort out their flights.
"The best thing I can do is address the passengers at the gates and tell them how sorry we are for them," said Captain Eric Haarmans of Norwegian Airlines. "We understand that it's Christmas time and everyone wants to go home. The same as us, as we want to go home as well."
The airline says the problem has been fixed and the last of the delayed flights should take off by the end of Tuesday.
