Montesano, 27, tried robbing a Walgreens in the early morning hours, say investigators. After he left, he shot Rodriguez at a nearby trailer park and stole his patrol car.

Montesano (left) and another man, 50-year-old Corsini Valdes (right), were later killed by police.

Two other police officers suffered gunshot wounds. They have since been treated and released.
