Participants sprint up stairs to raise money for lung cancer research

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – An event to raise money for lung cancer research also served as a physical fitness challenge Saturday, as participants raced up 30 flights of stairs in a Fort Lauderdale building.

According to its website, the Fight For Air Stair Climb raised more than $36,000 for the American Lung Association.

More than 500 people were signed up for the fifth annual event. They climbed up more than 529 vertical steps inside the 110 Tower.
