KEY WEST, Fla. -

The owner of a company that installs boat lifts was arrested Thursday for taking money to install a boat lift and then failing to do the work, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Peter Englund, 61, of Delray Beach, faces a charge of grand theft.

Detectives said Englund took $1,500 from a Key Largo resident who contracted Englund's company, Viking Marine, to install a boat lift at his home in March 2013.

The man told detectives Englund never responded to him despite repeated telephone calls.

Detectives said this is the fourth criminal investigation into Englund and his company in the past five years. In three of those investigations, Englund was arrested on grand theft charges.

Englund is also accused of scamming homeowners in Big Pine Key, Key Largo and Tavernier. Detectives said only one of those incidents was resolved without criminal charges after Englund agreed to repay the deposit money, claiming he was too busy to complete the work.
