Plane skids off runway after landing gear collapses at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport

Pilot not injured

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. ā€“ A plane's landing gear collapsed and the plane skidded off a runway Thursday morning at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said.

Sky 10 flew above the airport as the small plane was resting on the grass between runways.

City spokesman Chaz Adams said the Cessna 340 twin-engine propeller plane's left main landing gear collapsed after the plane landed on runway 9 about 10:45 a.m.

The pilot was the only person on board. He was not injured.

Both runways were closed until the plane could be towed to a hangar.
