NORTHEAST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – Investigators say a fire that forced the evacuation of a Miami-Dade nursing home early Wednesday was intentionally set.
The incident occurred at the Sinai Plaza Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Northeast 2nd Avenue and 112th Street.
According to Miami-Dade police, 78-year-old Herbert Lowenthal set his bed on fire. He is not being charged with any crime, but was brought to the hospital for a mental evaluation.
Residents were allowed back into the building after the fire was extinguished.
