Rodents, roaches and raw sewage force closure of Chili's

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – State inspectors found a dead rodent, raw sewage issues and roaches at the Chili's restaurant last week.

The violations forced the state to order the restaurant shut.

At the Coral Ridge Country Club in Fort Lauderdale, a roach issue was spotted in the kitchen and an employee was touching ready to eat food with his bare hands.

A dead rodent was found at Simon restaurant in Miami.

Candy's Place in Opa-locka also had rodent issues and was ordered shut.

Below is a list of places and some of their violations. All of the places mentioned were allowed to re-open following ordered clean ups and re-inspections.

"Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. Observed 6 live roaches in wall and floor behind cooking equipment in kitchen. Roaches going in and out from under steel laminate in kitchen wall. Observed 2 live roaches on floor by the Expeditor area."

"Raw sewage on ground of establishment. Inside men's bathroom."

"Employee with no beard guard/restraint while engaging in food preparation. Observed bearded employee preparing food without wearing a beard guard/restraint."

"Employee with no hair restraint while engaging in food preparation. Observed employee not wearing a hair restraint while preparing food."

"Potentially hazardous (time/temperature control for safety) food thawed in standing water. Observed ribs being thawed in standing water inside three compartment sink."

"Potentially hazardous (time/temperature control for safety) food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Chicken breast 49°F- 51°F at cook line. Operator stated was left on kitchen counter for less than 1/2 hour during restocking, Chicken was put on ice and temperature went down to 41°F."

"Dead roaches on premises. Approximately 30+ dead roaches on shelf under prep table at cook line. 5 Dead roaches on floor under dish machine."

"Employee touching ready-to-eat food with their bare hands - food was not being heated as a sole ingredient to 145 degrees F or immediately added to other ingredients to be cooked/heated to the minimum required temperature to allow bare hand contact.
