Safe found during demolition of Pablo Escobar home

Miami Beach home once belonged to drug lord

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A Miami Beach demolition has turned into quite the treasure trove of mysterious items.

Workers at a home once owned by infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar discovered a safe Monday while tearing down one of the remaining walls of the waterfront mansion.

The safe is different than the one that was discovered on the property at 5860 N. Bay Road last week and then disappeared. There is no word on the whereabouts of the original safe.

The flamingo-pink home has already turned up its share of mysteries.

Before demolition began, a bag that new owner Christian BerdouareĀ believes contains cocaine, was found on the property.

It's because the home was previously owned by the famed leader of the Medellin Cartel that an outfit of treasure hunters from Orlando has been there during the demolition.

Miguel Mato snapped a selfie after making the mysterious find. Ā

"The wall fell, broke the floor and I saw something gray and I told them, 'Look, it's a safe.' And they said, 'No, you're messing with me.' I grabbed it and pulled it out," Mato said.

Mato said the pool has not yet been demolished.

"I think if he was really going to hide something good, he would hide it under the pool," Mato said.

The safe, of which the contents are unknown, were removed from the Miami Beach site and taken to an undisclosed location.
