MIAMI – A teenager was shot and killed Sunday afternoon while walking along a sidewalk in front of a Miami elementary school, police said.
Miami police said Pedro Uriarte, 18, was walking near Paul Laurence Dunbar Elementary School about 3:30 p.m. when he was fatally shot by an unknown assailant.
"We do know when that shooting did occur, somebody walked up to the victim and shot him," Miami police Officer Kenia Fallat told Local 10 News. "We don't know if there was a getaway car or not."
Uriarte was a senior at Miami Jackson Senior High School.
Residents reported hearing five or six gunshots, but no witnesses have stepped forward to help police in their investigation.
