South Florida dealership sues teen accused of posing as doctor

Lawsuit reveals that Malachi Love-Robinson wrote bogus check to Grieco Mazda

Malachi Love-Robinson, 18, is listed as a doctor on his New Birth New Life Medical Center & Urgent Care website.

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – A West Palm Beach teenager accused of posing as a doctor is being sued by a prominent South Florida automobile dealership after paying for a car with a bogus check, according to a lawsuit obtained Tuesday by Local 10 News.

Grieco Mazda of Delray Beach is seeking $7,200 in damages from Malachi Love-Robinson.

According to the lawsuit filed in Palm Beach County in July, Love-Robinson wrote a check in the amount of $1,800 as a down payment for a 2016 Mazda 6 that he agreed to purchase for $27,070.09. Love-Robinson wrote the check and took possession of the car in June, but the check later bounced.

Grieco Mazda demanded payment from Love-Robinson, but he "failed and otherwise refused to do so."

It is a similar allegation to one made against the 18-year-old man last week, when he was arrested on charges of practicing medicine without a license, forgery and grand theft.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said Love-Robinson pretended to treat an 86-year-old woman in December, diagnosing her with arthritis and selling her natural vitamins. She became so sick during one of Love-Robinson's five visits to her home that he called for an ambulance. The woman told deputies that she believes Love-Robinson stole her checks while she was hospitalized.

According to an arrest report, Love-Robinson operated theĀ New Birth New Life Medical Center & Urgent CareĀ office at 4700 N. Congress Ave., Suite 303. The website listed Love-Robinson as a doctor, even though he wasn't licensed and had been cited by the Florida Department of Health for practicing medicine without a license in October 2015.

Love-Robinson told ABC News that he was a doctor, but not a medical doctor.

"I do currently hold a Ph.D.," he said. "In what, I don't feel comfortable disclosing."

His grandfather told Local 10 News that Love-Robinson had good intentions and was "trying to help people."
