Surveillance video released of man believed to have shot at Miami-Dade police officer

Officer not injured in shooting

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Surveillance video was released Wednesday that shows a man running, who is believed to have fired at a Miami-Dade police officer.

The shooting was reported about 11 p.m. Friday in the area of Northwest 24th Place and 54th Street.

Police said an officer spotted a 2014 Dodge Charger that had been stolen in an armed carjacking the day before.

Miami-Dade police Detective Daniel Ferrin said two people fired at the officer when he pulled up to the car.

The officer returned fire, but the gunmen ran away, Ferrin said.

Authorities said the officer's vehicle was struck multiple times by bullets.

Police established a perimeter in search of the gunmen, but they were not found.

The officer wasn't injured, and police don't know if any of the shooters were hurt.
