MIAMI – A 21-year-old man was killed and two others were injured in a drive-by shooting in northwest Miami-Dade County early Monday.

Sean Pitts, a 29-year-old man, and 16-year-old boy were shot at 5:48 a.m. while standing outside an apartment at 2020 NW 63rd Street.

"Somebody just ran through here and started shooting at somebody's house," said Shaquille Wright.

Pitts was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he died.

"I beat the ambulance here, and then when they came in, they just pushed him on in," said Latrease Moss, Pitts' mother. "It's tough. It's real tough right now."

It's unclear what led up to the shooting. Moss said the gunman must've confused Pitts with someone else.

"They just killed him for nothing. Why him out of all people?" she said.

Moss said her son had four children and was awaiting the birth of his fifth.

"He has little kids. How am I gonna tell his kids what happened to their daddy?" she said.

Family members believed the shooting stemmed from a fight that broke out at Club Rolex, but said Pitts wasn't there at the time.

"He don't club. He don't go to the clubs," said Moss.

The 29-year-old shooting victim was treated and released. The 16-year-old victim was listed in stable condition.

Police recovered the vehicle the shooter used. Detectives said it was stolen.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
