MIAMI – Police said they have linked the shooting death of 10-year-old Marlon Eason to two teenagers.

Ernest Rowell, 18, and Khalib Newkirk, 15, were taken into custody early Saturday morning, the Miami Herald reports. Rowell was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and charged with first-degree murder.

Marlson Eason, also known as "Merv," was shot to death in the 1900 block of Northwest Fourth Court in late March.

His uncle, Richard Ruffin, told Local 10 News that Marlon was outside his home playing with a ball when he was shot. Ruffin said he heard four to five gunshots and ran outside to help.

Marlon was taken by Miami Fire Rescue to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead, according to Miami police.
