Teen, younger brother injured in Dania Beach hit-and-run crash

Parents plea for help as boys remain in critical condition

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – A teenager and his younger brother were injured Monday night in a hit-and-run crash in Dania Beach.

The crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. on Bryan Road.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Dani Moschella said a metallic gray, two-door Toyota Tacoma struck the boys and continued driving.

The Toyota emblem on the vehicle's grille was left behind after the crash, and the vehicle should have a broken headlight and front-end damage.

"If a neighbor (or) co-worker drives this vehicle and maybe doesn't have it today, give us a call," Moschella said during a news conference Tuesday morning. "Just let us know."

The victims were identified Tuesday as Apollo Brown Jr., 8, and Kelv-Ron Florence, 14. Their parents said the brothers were headed home from a basketball game when they were struck.

Both children were listed in critical condition at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood.

Their parents made a plea to the public Tuesday morning asking for anyone who knows anything about the crash to come forward.

"My kids are hurt," Apollo Brown Sr. said. "They're hurt, and we need help to find out who this person is."

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A $3,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
