Texas woman bitten by shark will soon be released from hospital

Lacy Webb Martin bitten by shark while snorkeling with husband in Bahamas

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. ā€“ A Texas woman who was bitten by a shark while vacationing in the Bahamas will soon be headed home.

Lacy Webb Martin, 34, spoke to the media Tuesday for the first time since she was flown to South Florida after being bitten earlier this month.

Martin has been recovering at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, but her doctor said she will be released in a few days.

Webb said she was snorkeling behind a sting ray with her husband when she was bitten by the shark.

Every time I look at my injury it reminds me that I'm so blessed to be here," Webb said.

Dr. Andrew Rosenthal said Webb's positive attitude made the difference between life and death.

"I think maybe you'd make a great trauma surgeon," Rosenthal told Webb.
