Thieves break into nail salon to get inside Verizon Store, police say

Burglary happened about 4 a.m. Friday

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Police are searching for a pair of burglars who broke into a Verizon Store in North Miami Beach early Friday morning.

The incident happened just before 4 a.m. at 14744 Biscayne Blvd.

North Miami Beach police spokeswoman Maj. Kathy Caterman said the duo broke in through the side wall of the Venetian Nail Spa, which is under construction next door, to get inside the cellphone store.

Once inside, the crooks took merchandise off the shelves and fled toward the nearby parking lot of Prestige Imports, dropping some of the items along the way, Caterman said.

Police did not disclose how much merchandise was stolen or the estimated value of the stolen items.

Police said the Verizon store was also the target of an armed robbery a couple of weeks ago.

It's unclear whether the two incidents are related.
