Police said there were no missing children calls, so they began canvassing the area by going door to door.

According to a probable cause affidavit, police found the boy's father at 305 SW Fifth Ave. The toddler's father, Peter Joubert, 27, told police he didn't know that his son was missing.

Joubert was taken to where the child was located and positively identified him.

The toddler was taken to the Boynton Beach Police Department, where he was medically cleared and given clothing and water. The Department of Children and Families was called.

According to the affidavit, Joubert told police that he was unemployed and had been at home watching his son when he fell asleep in bed with the boy. Joubert said he didn't know his son had crawled out of bed and walked out of the house alone.

JoubertĀ told police he had made a mistake and admitted it was his responsibility to watch the child.
