Water main break floods neighborhood in Weston

Old pipes to blame for issue, crews say

WESTON, Fla. – A water main break flooded a neighborhood Monday in Weston.

Sky 10 was above the 2200 block of Columbia at 11 a.m. and saw Weston Public Works crews at the scene working to repair the water main.

Local 10 News reporter Ian Margol spoke to a homeowner whose car got sunken in by his cracked driveway when the pipes burst.

"A woman just kept on knocking on my door. When I answered she said, 'There's a sinkhole. There's a sinkhole.' So when I looked, I saw my car sitting outside and I'm kind of frustrated," Andres Suarez said. "This is the third situation that happened. This is the third sinkhole that's in the neighborhood right now."

Suarez said two other homes experienced the same thing last year and said his neighbor is probably next.

"I'm thinking that the next house is going to be my neighbor's. So if my neighbor want to stop it, definitely they need to change something at least in this section because of the old pipes here," he said.

Crews confirmed that the old pipes are likely to blame for the water main break.

The road will be closed until the water main is repaired.
