Police said two other people sitting at the bus stop saw Avilez stab the woman multiple times with a folding knife.
According to the report, the victim, who was being chased by Avilez, ran to a nearby business to call 911.
The victim was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital. Police said she was stabbed six times, including four times in the upper back, once in the right shoulder and once in the right abdomen. She also suffered a punctured lung.
Police said officers found Avilez a short time later running east in the 6100 block of Fillmore Street.
According to officers, Avilez did not have a knife on her when she was arrested and claimed not to know where the knife was.
Police said Avilez denied any involvement in the incident, but made several random comments, such as "The (victim) stole my man, "The (victim) had sex with my man," and "Everyone is taking (her) side" and treating her unfairly.
Police said she also claimed that the victim "was not hurt that bad."
According to the report, while officers did not find a knife on Avilez when she was patted down, it "dropped from within her" as she was entering the Hollywood Police Department's sally port for processing.
Avilez refused to speak with detectives about the incident, police said.
She faces charges of an attempted felony that could cause death and tampering with evidence.
