Woman describes Deerfield Beach home invasion

Deborah Plasse, 59, cut by glass, spray-painted during robbery

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A 59-year-old woman is sharing her story in hopes of finding the men who attacked her Thursday at her Deerfield Beach home and killed two of her pets.

Deborah Plasse held back tears as she spoke about the attack, which left her scarred.

"It's just scary," Plasse said.

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said two masked intruders wearing hooded sweatshirts, gloves and Halloween masks, walked into her home through a sliding-glass door and demanded jewelry and credit cards.

Plasse said the men killed two of her kittens and threatened to hurt her 8-month-old dog.

"When they threatened to kill him I said, 'Over my dead body,' and that's when I took my walker and threw it at him," Plasse said.Ā

Plasse said the men threw her to the floor, cut her face and body with glass and spray-painted her body. She said she is sharing the horrifying experience in hopes of tracking the men down.

"I think they should be put away -- not just for animal cruelty, but it's just, you know, it's wrong," Plasse said.

Deputies said the men left with a safe containing her medication and two dead kittens in a paper bag.

A neighbor, Gary Williams, said he heard a faint cry for help and found Plasse on the ground by her door. He then called 911.

Plasse was treated at North Broward Health and is now recovering at home.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
