Woman fatally shot with baby in car

Police search for person who shot, killed Nicole Grier

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A woman was shot and killed in Lauderhill and the search is on for her killer.

The shooting happened Monday night on Northwest 18th Street near 31st Avenue while the victim, 19-year-old Nicole Grier, was picking up her son.

According to eyewitnesses, Grier was ambushed, shot at least six times at very close range. She was outside the home where she goes every day to pick up her 11-month-old baby.

"I heard six shots," said Carmela Watkins, a good friend who would often watch Grier's son. "I was in the shower and I came out and saw the girl lying there in my driveway."

Witnesses say Grier had just placed her son, Jacari, in the back seat of her car. That's when two cars pulled up.

Satricia Jordan said she had just finished helping Grier to put the baby in the car when she saw a man stand up through the sunroof of one of the cars and start shooting. She said Grier was asking them to stop, but they just kept shooting.

Watkins said she never heard Watkins say anything about fearing anyone.

"I just feel sorry for her son," she said.

Eyewitnesses say a white Lexus was definitely involved in the incident. The second car was possibly a black BMW.

Police have not yet released any additional information.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 954-493-8477 (TIPS). A $3,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
