Man steals woman's purse, then flees, police say

MIAMI – Miami police are searching for a man who stole a woman's purse and punched her in the arm July 25 at a Shell gas station.  

Luna Bertolotti was sitting in the back seat of a Porsche convertible at about 11 p.m. in the 5400 block of Biscayne Boulevard when a man approached her and snatched her purse, police said.

Bertolotti and the man struggled for a few seconds.

Eventually he punched her on the arm, causing the her to let go of the bag, police said.

"It's 20 seconds, and I didn't even (understand) because I thought it was my friend playing with me," she said. 

The man fled west on Northeast 54th Street.

"As the police said to me, I was very lucky," Bertolotti said.

Police are searching for a medium-built man with short hair,  about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 190 pounds.

The man was last seen wearing a long-sleeved, round-neck sweater and a black hat with a white emblem.
