This will be season number 3 as head coach for Mario Cristobal.

The Canes come into the Spring with high hopes.

Canes fans are getting their first look at transfer quarterback Cam Ward in a Miami uniform.

Cristobal says heā€™s impressed by the Freshman class that has come in so far.

Cristobal said, ā€œThey have a high care factor for football. Football is very important to them. They spend a lot of time in the building... they have that dog mentality.ā€

Quarterback Emory Williams was back on the field. He suffered an arm fracture in Miamiā€™s game against Florida State last season.

On Cam Ward, Cristobal said ā€œLeadership. A guy who can take command of the line of scrimmage. I think thatā€™s critical... He can make plays because he understands what everyone is doing.ā€

Legendary Canes running back Duke Johnson has enrolled back in school at Miami. He will serve as a student assistant and will be around the team.

Cristobal said he wants competition at every position.

He said that ā€œiron sharpens iron.ā€
