VCU transfer Michael Gilmore dismissed from Hurricanes basketball team

Junior forward dismissed 'for failure to meet team expectations'

CORAL GABLES, Fla. ā€“ A transfer from Virginia Commonwealth has been dismissed from the University of Miami basketball team.

Junior forward Michael Gilmore was dismissed "for failure to meet team expectations," according to a news release sent Wednesday night to Local 10 News, shortly before Miami played No. 20 Notre Dame.

Gilmore was sitting out this season after transferring from VCU, where he averaged 2.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 55 games with the Rams.

He had a career-best 12 points and eight rebounds in his last game with the Rams, an 85-81 loss to Oklahoma in the NCAA tournament.

Gilmore is the second transfer to be dismissed this season, joining junior guard Rashad Muhammad, who sat out last season after transferring from San Jose State.
