MIAMI -

Suspended Dolphins lineman Richie Incognito spoke to FOX's Jay Glazer on Sunday.

Glazer started the interview: "You've become the face of bullying in American.  Somebody thinks of a bully, they think of Richie Incognito."

Incognito replied, "This isn't an issue of bullying.  This is an issue of my and Jon's relationship, where I've taken stuff too far.  I did not intend to hurt him.  What I was going for, I was going for... I haven't seen my buddy, I wanted to shock him, I wanted him to call me back.  And, when the words are put in the context, I understand why a lot of eyebrows get raised."

Incognito went on to elaborate about his relationship with Martin: "But people don't know how Jon and I communicate to one another.  For instance, a week before this went down, Jonathan Martin texts me on my phone 'I will murder your whole eff'ing family.'"

Incognito explained, "Now, do I think Jonathan Martin is gonna murder my family?  Not not one bit."

Glazer replied: "So he left that voicemail, that text for you?

Incognito answered: "He texted me that.  I didn't think he was going to kill my family.  I knew it was coming from a brother.  I knew it was coming from a friend.  I knew it was coming from a teammate, that just puts in context how we communicate with one another."

Glazer disclosed that he and Incognito are friends and have trained in Mixed Martial Arts together.

Glazer said Incognito would not answer if he was told by the Dolphins to toughen up Martin.

Here's the full text of the interview:

Incognito: You can ask anybody in the Miami Dolphins locker room who had Jonathan Martin’s back the absolute most, and they will undoubtedly tell you me. Jon never showed signs… that football was getting to him… the locker room was getting to him.

Glazer: You’re saying you don’t know.. what lead to this. Teammates are saying we don’t know.. his side has clearly said we do know. Ok and there’s bullying involved. There was a voice message left. I’m gonna read it to you, you did leave this voice message?

Incognito: Yes I did leave this voice message.

Glazer: (Reads out voicemail left by Incognito) You hear that, going back to that now.. do you look at that and say… I left that for Jonathan Martin?

Incognito: When I see that voicemail, when I see those words come up across the screen, I’m embarrassed by it, I’m embarrassed by my actions. But what I want people to know is… the way Jonathan and the rest of the offensive line and our teammates how we communicate is vulgar. It’s.. it’s not right. When words are put in the context, I understand why eyebrows get raised but people don’t know how Jon and I communicate to one another.

Glazer: But there’s one thing saying that, but there’s another thing with a white man saying the N word.

Incognito: Well that’s…

Glazer: How do you, how do you tell America, how do you expect anyone in America.. to believe you’re not a racist?
