MIAMI – A report claims that a group led by Derek Jeter and former Florida governor Jeb Bush has won an "auction" to purchase the Miami Marlins.
Bloomberg reports a person with knowledge of the deal has confirmed the sale.

The Miami Herald reports an agreement has been reached, pending Major League Baseball approval, with a $1.3 billion price tag and that Bush would be the team's controlling owner.
Local 10 News contacted Marlins president David Samson, who offered a quick reply.
"I have not commented on the process and plan to keep it that way," Samson told Local 10 News sports director Will Manso in a text message.
Earlier Tuesday, Forbes reported that the Jeter-Bush group was the only one remaining with interest in buying the team from Jeffrey Loria.
Loria, who purchased the team for $158 million in 2002, was reported to be looking to sell the Marlins for more than $1 billion.
Forbes claims the Jeter-Bush group currently has just $200 million in equity and is currently looking to raise additional funds to purchase the team.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said the league has not yet accepted any bid.
