NEW YORK – During a Major League Baseball meeting on Thursday it was revealed the groups bidding to buy the Miami Marlins, including a group led by retired Yankees legend Derek Jeter, lack the sufficient cash to buy the team.

Fox Business reported on Thursday that none of the groups in the mix have enough fluid cash to meet the asking price of $1.3 billion dollars.

The Miami Herald reports Jeter met with MLB commissioner Rob Manfred in New York on Thursday with the understanding that Jeter's group will keep working as they are closer than ever to the asking price.

Jeter is reportedly contributing $25 million of his own money.
