Pouncey says Tannehill ready to 'call the show'

DAVIE, Fla. – Dolphins center Mike Pouncey said all the things about quarterback Ryan Tannehill Wednesday during organized team activities that Miami fans have been waiting to see on the field for the entirety of Tannehill's career.

Pouncey said he's already seeing a different Tannehill under new coach Adam Gase.

"I think he's been a lot more vocal this year as a leader," Pouncey said. "Obviously, he's a good football player on the football field and he's always been a leader on this team; but this year I feel like he's bringing more -- more to the table. More than he ever has before as far as pushing guys and getting guys ready to go."

The Pro Bowl center was asked if Tannehill is ready for more responsibility on the field under coach Gase's system.

"Oh yeah, heck yeah," Pouncey said. "He's (Tannehill) a smart kid. He's very intelligent. I think this is what he's been waiting for his whole career, is to go out there and be the guy to kind of call the show."

Pouncey also commented on rookie and first round pick Laremy Tunsil.

"We like Tunsil a lot," he said. "Obviously, his feet are really good. We think he was the best player in this year's draft. We're excited to see what he can do."

Asked whether Tunsil still has to earn the respect of the others on the offensive line, Pouncey said, "(He's) definitely got to still earn it, but we're brining him along as fast as possible."
