Miami Dolphins cheerleaders represent 8 different countries in 2016

Cheerleaders hail from Argentina, Cuba, Mexico, among others

DAVIE, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins have chosen 36 women from eight different countries to represent their 2016 cheerleading squad.

Thirty-six ladies were selected from the largest turnout for Miami Dolphins cheerleader auditions in team history. More than 800 women registered to become a Dolphins cheerleader.

The Dolphins became the first NFL team to host auditions internationally, searching for women in Bogota, Colombia; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Mexico City, Mexico; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and South Florida, according to a team news release.

Of the 36 women chosen, 11 hail from other countries. In addition to the United States, the countries represented by the 2016 squad are Mexico, Argentina, Haiti, Brazil, England, Cuba and Venezuela.

The cheerleaders are on the sidelines for all home games and are active in the community, visiting schools and hospitals, and attending charity and corporate events, Dolphins communications manager Theresa Manahan said.
