BOCA RATON, Fla. ā A former NFL player was arrested last weekend in Boca Raton, accused of punching and threatening to kill a 15-year-old boy whom he believed egged his home.
Scott Mersereau, 51, was arrested Sunday on a charge of child abuse.

Mersereau, who spent seven seasons with the New York Jets, walked to the boy's home and accused him of egging his house, according to a Boca Raton police report.
The boy denied egging the home, but an argument ensued, and Mersereau said that "he was going to kill him for egging his house," the report said.
Mersereau then got close to the boy's face, pushing him in the chest with both hands, police said.
After the boy told Mersereau to leave, he grabbed the boy by the shirt and pushed him again, the report said. Mersereau then punched the boy twice in the face, the report said.
When police questioned Mersereau, he said his house had been egged a few nights ago, but he "did not know who actually did it," the report said.
The arresting officer said Mersereau was belligerent, intoxicated and "elusive with his answers," the report said.
Mersereau was a defensive end for the Jets from 1987 to 1993. He recorded 19 sacks and three interceptions in his NFL career.
