PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Miami Dolphins starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill is on the cover of the latest Sports Illustrated.

The team's 2012 first-round draft pick is seen throwing a football on the cover of the Aug. 17 issue, which features four regional covers.

No. 17 joins Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, St. Louis Rams defensive end Robert Quinn and Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch.

Readers in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio will receive the Tannehill cover.

Tannehill was drafted to be the franchise quarterback that the Dolphins had been without since Dan Marino retired after the 1999 season.

Miami gambled on a wide receiver-turned-quarterback from Texas A&M when the team drafted him with the eighth overall pick in 2012, but so far the results have been worthwhile.

Tannehill has started all 48 games in his Dolphins career, throwing for 11,252 yards and 63 touchdowns in three seasons. He has also rushed for 760 yards and four touchdowns.

The Dolphins signed Tannehill to a six-year, $95 million contract extension in May.
