Pedestrian bridge construction to affect Key Largo road, boat traffic

$1.8 million bridge construction to take place next Thursday-Friday

KEY LARGO, Fla. ā€“ Road and boat traffic in Key Largo will be affected next week by the installation of a 120-foot concrete pedestrian bridge.

Construction of the Marvin D. Adams Waterway pedestrian bridge will begin at 10 p.m. Thursday and continue until 5 p.m. next Friday.

The $1.8 million pedestrian bridge stretches from mile marker 99 to 106 and provides a safe route for people to walk, run and bike.

Monroe County spokeswoman Cammy Clark said the southbound lane will be closed at mile marker 103.3, and the northbound lane will be divided into two lanes. Traffic will be allowed in both directions, but there will be many stoppages.

No boat traffic will be allowed through Adams Cut during those hours.

The pedestrian bridge is expected to be finished in December.
