Flames seen as Miami-to-Chicago flight diverted to Jacksonville lands

No injuries reported

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Flames were seen as an American Airlines flight headed from Miami to Chicago landed Tuesday afternoon at Jacksonville International Airport.

A full assignment was requested by Jacksonville Fire-Rescue, which was told there was a possibility of a fire in the cockpit.

A Jacksonville Airport Authority spokeswoman said 155 people were on the Boeing 737. There was no report of any injuries.

A WJXT reporter who was at the airport for a story about weather-related flight delays saw the plane land.
