South Florida under flood warning

Floodwaters strand drivers, turn roads into rivers

SOUTH FLORIDA – Southeastern Broward and northeastern Miami-Dade Counties are under a flash flood warning until 9:30 p.m. Friday.

More than 9 inches of rain fell in North Miami Beach and Miami Beach. Much of Hallandale Beach was underwater.

Aventura police reported flooding on Biscayne Boulevard at Northeast 191st and 192nd Streets and the 2900 block of NE 192nd Street. Some areas had 9 inches of flooding and there were reports of more than 50 disabled vehicles.

The Broward Sheriff's Office reported vehicles underwater at Southeast 2nd Avenue and 10th Street and the 300 block of Southeast 3rd Place in Dania Beach.

Cars slogged through nearly knee-high water on U.S. at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The severe weather also delayed flights there.
