MIAMI – A flood advisory that was issued for parts of Broward County has been canceled as heavy rains moved through part of South Florida.
At 6:45 p.m., the Doppler showed heavy rain due to thunderstorms, which could have caused minor flooding in the area. The NWS said up to 2 inches of rain had already fallen.
Cities that were impacted by the flood advisory included Davie, Plantation, Sunrise, Weston and Cooper City. Western areas of Pembroke Pines also reported getting hit with heavy rain.
Local 10 News also received several reports of minor damage in Davie after a tornado warning was issued Wednesday evening. One woman said a tornado touched down near her house, destroying her gazebo.
The strong storm toppled a black olive tree outside a home in Davie. The tree just missed hitting the house, but the tree was blocking the street, making it difficult for several homeowners to leave or drive out of their subdivision. No major damage or injuries were reported in the incident.
The tornado warning was in effect until 7:30 p.m.
