Windy weather brings risk for dangerous rip currents

Weather conditions to last through Tuesday

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. ā€“ The windy weather in South Florida is bringing a risk for dangerous rip currents.

Waves were crashing down in Haulover Beach Monday morning as street signs whipped back and forth.

The high winds are bringing the potential for some dangerous rip currents in the water, but that didn't stop some surfers from taking advantage of the larger-than-usual waves.

Lifeguards in the area said they haven't had any issues yet, as most people are opting to stay away from the beach, or at least are staying out of the water.

Forecasters reported wind gusts of up to 25 mph. The windy conditions are expected to last through Tuesday.
