Davie sex offender accused of illegally voting 18 times

Amilcar Noguera (BSO)

DAVIE, Fla. – A man convicted of a child sex crime in 1989 spent more than three decades illegally voting in Broward County elections and is now facing two felony charges, authorities said.

Authorities arrested Amilcar De Jesus Noguera, 72, of Davie, on Friday, according to online records.

According to court documents obtained by Local 10 News on Monday, Noguera was convicted of sexual activity with a child on Dec. 19, 1989, and has been on the sex offender registry ever since. Broward court records show he was given 10 years probation after pleading guilty.

A probable cause affidavit by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement states that Noguera registered to vote in Broward County less than two months later, illegally affirming that he was qualified to register, and has voted in 18 elections since 1992, including in the November 2022 general election.

Agents said Noguera never had his voting rights restored, leading them to arrest him on two charges of voting as an unqualified elector, a third-degree felony.

Noguera’s registration is still listed as active in Broward County, as a no party affiliation voter.

He was no longer listed in Broward jail records as of Monday morning.
