Kevin James receives star on Miami Walk of Fame

'Paul Blart: Mall Cop' actor attends induction ceremony Wednesday

Kevin James is presented with a star on the Miami Walk of Fame.

MIAMI – Actor and comedian Kevin James was honored Wednesday with a star on the Miami Walk of Fame.

James, who stars in "Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2," opening later this month, attended the induction ceremony at Bayside Marketplace in downtown Miami.

The star was designed by Miami artist Romero Britto.

James was recognized by Miami police Chief Rodolfo Llanes, who presented him with an award to mark the occasion.

"I'm so excited to be here," James told the crowd. "This is awesome."

James posed for photographs with city leaders and spent some time riding around on his upcoming film character's signature method of transportation, a Segway scooter.

He was also complimentary of the city, expressing his affinity for Miami and neighboring Miami Beach across Biscayne Bay.

"I loved it ever since the Will Smith song came out," James said, jokingly referring to Smith's 1998 hit "Miami."

Mayor Tomas Regalado also presented James with a key to the city.

Other celebrities to receive stars on the Miami Walk of Fame are Andy Garcia, Jamie Foxx and Bobby Cannavale.
