According to FHP, Romeus sideswiped another car just south of Hillsboro Boulevard. The second car hit a Lexus sport utility vehicle, causing the driver to lose control and drive into a lake.

The occupants of the Lexus SUV -- Sandalie Jean Baptiste, 20; Guivens Daverman, 16; Nadege Theodore, 37; and, her daughter Lyn, 15 -- were killed in the crash. The four were returning from the Town Center at Boca Raton.
