FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Broward County School Board has fired two transportation workers amid allegations that one of them choked an autistic student on board a school bus last month. The announcement came at the Board's first meeting of the new term on Tuesday.
According to the Broward Sheriff's Department, bus attendant Darryl Blue pulled a restraining harness against the 13-year-old's body and neck. Deputies said surveillance video showed Blue hurting the boy while the bus was leaving Westglades Middle School in Parkland on October 9.

Blue is charged with felony child abuse. If convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison.
Chelsi Edwards, the woman who was driving the bus at the time, was also fired Tuesday, though she has not yet been charged with any crime.
