According to the report, when Deputy Enid Conley arrived, one of the men, who was sitting on a mattress with several blankets on top of it, yelled an expletive and said, "I'm not leaving."

The man, identified as Terry Lee Gibbs, ignored orders to leave and again yelled profanities at the deputy, the report said.

"I ain't leaving with no one," Gibbs yelled, the report said. "You can't (expletive) make me leave."

Gibbs, 61, appeared "severely intoxicated," according to the report, so paramedics were called.

As Conley was speaking with paramedics, she noticed Gibbs "reaching into his blanket with his right hand," the report said.

"Gibbs then retrieved a black kitchen knife and attempted to conceal it with his forearm," the report said.

A firefighter yelled at Gibbs to drop the knife and Conley ordered him to do so at gunpoint, the report said.

Conley was able to snatch the knife from Gibbs, who then struck her in the face with the back of his hand, the report said.

"I grabbed Gibbs by the back of his head to escort him to the ground," causing his face to hit the pavement, Conley wrote in the report.

"Gibbs was bracing, tensing, pushing and pulling his arms and body away from me in order to evade arrest," Conley went on to say in the report.

Eventually, Conley and a firefighter were able to subdue Gibbs while Conley handcuffed him, the report said.

"Gibbs then began spitting and attempted to spit" on the deputy, the report said.

The homeless man was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries sustained during the scuffle. He was then arrested on various charges, including trespassing, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer.
