After top cop’s abrupt resignation, Surfside swears in interim chief

He spent more than 30 years with Miami Beach police

SURFSIDE, Fla. – As Local 10 News exclusively reported Thursday, Surfside is getting a new police chief after the abrupt resignation of Chief Antonio Marciante amid a swirl of political controversy.

On Friday, town officials swore in his interim replacement: Enrique “Henry” Doce.

According to his official biography, Doce spent more than three decades with the Miami Beach Police Department.

Doce was born in Havana, raised in Miami and is a graduate of Belen Jesuit High School and Miami-Dade College, with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Barry University.

He joined MBPD in 1989 after beginning his law enforcement career on the force of the small Miami-Dade village of Virginia Gardens five years earlier.

He rose to the rank of major within the MBPD.

“He looks forward to leading the men and women of the Surfside Police Department and getting to know our Town and residents,” a town of Surfside Facebook post reads.
