MIRAMAR, Fla. — Loved ones are still mourning the death of a 19-year-old man killed in a shooting at a Miramar gas station.
Angelina Moreno, 20, was back at the Sunoco gas station on Monday, creating a memorial for the father of her unborn child.
“I would tell him I love him, and that I’m so sorry he won’t be here to raise our baby, because I know that’s what he wanted,” she told Local 10’s Rosh Lowe.
It was back on Jan. 6 that her boyfriend, Christian Corea, was fatally shot while at the gas pumps.
Surveillance video shows a conversation between three people quickly escalating to bullets flying. Two others were hurt, including a man who was working on his car nearby.
He is seen on video limping away after getting hit with a stray bullet.
Police have since arrested J’shaun Williams, 18, who was injured in the shooting and remains hospitalized.
A search continues for a third suspect in the altercation who ran from the scene and remains at large.
“This didn’t just impact us, but it also impacted the people that Christian brought closer to Christ,” said Moreno. “Christian changed a lot of youth from their ways, a lot of kids that were in the streets, Christian was that person (who would help them).”
Moreno said Corea was really looking forward to bringing their baby into the world. She is due to give birth to a baby boy in June.
She says her son will know about his dad, and in fact, he will carry the name Christian.
“He was really trying to change his life and become a better person, to become a good father,” said Moreno. “We gave him back up to God, and I’m grateful and thankful that I even had the time that I did with him.”
Family members have set up a GoFundMe page to help with final expenses.
