The Ford F250 pickup truck was stolen from Sands of the Keys in Islamorada. The boat and trailer were stolen from a home in the San Pedro Village mobile home park.

Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said a deputy attempted to stop the truck because of an expired tag on the trailer, but the truck sped up and continued traveling north.

Deputies notified Florida City police about the fleeing truck, and spike strips were used to puncture the truck's tires.

Herrin said two men fled from the truck, but police eventually caught up with the passenger, identified as Rodriguez.

Rodriguez said he was having trouble breathing because of the drugs he had ingested, so he was taken to a hospital to be evaluated. He was released into the custody of police and booked into a Miami-Dade County jail.

Herrin said detectives are investigating to determine the identity of the driver.
