Teenage girl stable after shooting

Police find more than dozen bullet casings near Miami Gardens home

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Nevilisha Frances, the 13-year-old girl who was shot in the leg outside her home late Monday, is in stable condition at Holtz Children's Hospital.

The shooting happened about 8:50 p.m. in the 20400 block of Northwest 2nd Court. Police found more than a dozen bullet casings nearby.

Investigators say Frances wasn't the intended target.

"I want to move," said Frances' mother, who has lived there for 18 years and asked Local 10 not to publish her name.

"I was upset but I had to calm myself down," said Frances' brother, Romario.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305471-TIPS.
