Report: Heat, Wade preparing to meet

Guard deciding his future

MIAMI – Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat are preparing to meet to talk about the guard's future.

ESPN reports that Wade and the Heat will meet within the next week to address contract issues and attempt to come to an agreement.

Wade has until next Monday to decide to opt in to the Heat's contract for $16.1 million or become a free agent.

CNN reported over the weekend that Wade and the L.A. Lakers had a mutual interest.

According to the ESPN report, the Heat are attempting to trade guard Mario Chalmers and big man Chris Andersen to free up salary space for Wade.

Both Chalmers and Andersen are going into the final year of their contracts.

NBA free agency officially begins on July 1st.
