Arrest made after social media threat made against Miami-Dade middle school

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — An arrest has been made after a threat against a Miami-Dade middle school was posted on social media, a spokesperson for Miami-Dade County Public Schools told Local 10 News on Friday.

The threat was allegedly made against Lamar Louise Curry Middle School, located at 15750 SW 47th St.

According to the spokesperson, the threat was posted on Thursday and reported via the Fortify FL app. Miami Schools Police arrested the suspect Friday morning.

The age and identity of the suspect has not been released.

“M-DCPS kindly asks parents to continue speaking to their children about the importance of using social media responsibly,” the district said in a statement. “Threats of any kind will be taken seriously, and those involved could face life-altering consequences.”
