FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Transportation Security Administration agent on Wednesday after they said she attacked a 79-year-old airline passenger at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Authorities identified the agent as Janiyah Wilson-Robinson, 21, of Margate.
According to a BSO arrest report, Wilson-Robinson attacked the Palm Beach Gardens woman, who was flying that day on JetBlue Airways, by “forcefully pushing her.”
The senior fell to the ground and hit her forehead, causing “minor bruising,” deputies said.
According to the report, medics gave the woman, who declined a trip to the hospital, an ice pack.
The report doesn’t state what led up to the alleged assault.
Wilson-Robinson was arrested and spent the night at the North Broward Bureau detention facility.
Local 10’s Terrell Forney caught up with her on Thursday night as a loved one picked her up from jail and asked, “Did she fall or did you push her?” and “Anything you wanted to say to her or her family?”
Wilson-Robinson didn’t respond to any of his questions.
She was released on a $1,000 bond for a charge of aggravated battery on a person 65 or older, according to BSO records.
In a statement, a TSA spokesperson said the agency was aware of her arrest.
“TSA holds its employees to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, and we do not tolerate behavior that violates these standards or the public’s trust,” the spokesperson said. “The individual has been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities in their investigation.”
